Tequila tasting in Mexico
By Teasers & Rye,

I couldn’t find a 50% sign.
Even though Seven Grand is a Whiskey Bar, they still carry three bottles of every major spirit. Fortaleza holds the place of Tequila. The Fortaleza Distillery hosts a huge Día De Los Muertos Party in the town of Tequila in Tequila, Mexíco. Bartenders from all over the world travel to this little town to tour the distillery and learn about the Tequila making process. We visited the distilleries of Los Abuelos (Fortaleza), Arette and Don Fulano. Seeing how Tequila is made was an awesome experience. We tasted it right off the still and it was delicious!

Mashing the agave (piñas) in the tahona pit. They still use a stone wheel to crush the baked agave. The men follow behind pulling and pushing the fibers around. They have upgraded from a donkey to a tractor to pull the wheel.

The Jimador. The man who removes all the leaves to reveal the piña. All of which happens in about two minutes.

Taking a break.
